Background

Atari Invasion is a group of retro enthusiasts with a love for the Atari brand from the 70s, 80s and 90s. They’ve been in contact on-and-of since the 80s and more recently get together during the HCC Commodore sig meetings in the Netherlands. This is where they got the idea to start an Atari takeover of the Commodore meeting and so Atari Invasion was born. Here they are now, showing you that the Atari legacy lives on and that there are still many enthusiasts that release new items on a (fairly) regular basis.  

History

The first invasion took place in 2016 and was an instant success. During the invasion most of the Atari legacy since the 70s, all in working order and playable for everyone, was shown. A year later they did another invasion, but this time focussed on the homebrew releases that are still created by atari enthusiasts all around the globe. This invasion turned out to be well received too and so they started looking for other venues to invade. 

Present  

In 2026 our 10th edition of Atari Invasion will be held in Maarssen on March 21st. We are also visiting many other retro shows in Europe. Examples are: Hackfest, the HCC Kennisdagen, the annual Abbuc meeting and the Retro Computer Festival in Cambridge. If you are organizing a retro show and want to invite us, then please contact us.

We've been organizing Atari themed meetings or take-overs at the HCC Commodore sig club meetings in Maarssen (The Netherlands) and on occasion we dipped our toes in unfamiliar waters, i.e. went to the Retro Computer Festival in Cambridge (UK) . As we participate with the HCC Commodore sig at their stand during the HCC Kennisdagen , we've gotten quite good at packing and preparing for these type of events. As some of our members are 'sceners' and regularly visit scene meetings, we were asked to participate in many of these meetings, but never got to go, mostly due to life stuff, although the amount of work involved with planning, gathering gear, etc. held us back as well. This year we were asked to participate in the hackfest event , held in Enschede (The Netherlands) and at least two of us said yes. Atari Invasion #9 - Atari in the BeNeLux

Volgende week is alweer de negende Atari Invasion van de HCC Commodore clubdag. Dit jaar staat in het teken van Atari in de BeNeLux. We hebben Dion Olsthoorn (bekend van o.a. zijn 2600 Lode Runner port) weten te strikken om zijn homebrew releases te demonstreren, kortom genoeg te zien en te beleven, of zoals men vroeger zei:  Met Atari is er altijd iets leuks op TV . De invasie start direct aan de start van de HCC Commodore clubdag (rond 10u) en duurt tot ongeveer 16u. Je bent van harte welkom in het Schuurtje: Zwanenkamp 1301, 3607 NZ Maarssenbroek. Atari Invasion 2k18

Atari Invasion 2k18 On February 17th, at approximately 8.45 the first invader arrived at ' het Trefpunt ' in Maarssen. He was soon joined by the other invaders and at 10.00 the buildup was well underway. By the time the general assembly of members of the HCC Commodore ig was finished, most of the gear was hooked up and the Invasion started. The museum rack was back again. This year we had it filled with our custom Atari homecomputer stands, one with XL computers, the other with XE machines. A light sixer with Quelle's Universum keyboard, a Lynx and 7800 on another shelve and finally an 800 and the Sears Tele-Games. Next to the museum our custom display case was filled with a broad range of home-brew items for the 2600, 7800 and 8bit range of Atari systems. We brought along some binders, books and magazines.
